Your First Two Years in Youth Ministry

A great tool for anyone working with students in a church, whether you're putting in 40 hours a week or 40 minutes a week, is Your First Two Years in Youth Ministry by Doug Fields. Oddly enough I started this book about 8 months ago and am finally finishing it (I read a couple others along the way). My main concern was in fact finishing this before I'd gotten two years under my belt.

I won't summarize the book here because it talks about anything and everything related to youth minsitry. It seems that every important topic is covered at least briefly.

You might be tempted to say, "Why would I read that book? I'm not a youth pastor." This book is very helpful for youth pastors but is equally as helpful for anyone who impacts the life of a student. It would be especially helpful for youth leaders, parents, churches looking to hire a youth pastor/leader, pastors who work at a church without a full-time youth worker, and anyone who wants to better impact students. It reads more like a resource than a novel. While it is most effective read straight through it is also helpful if you choose to skip around.

Zehr0 rating: Most definately a 5 stars out of 5.
