I've recently read a book entitled "Boundaries with Teens" by Dr. John Townsend. This has sparked in me the desire to start a sort of "Aaron's book list" which I will post on this blog. (I expect to use this blog quite frequently as a youth pastor and am beginning to set it up to be a resource to both parents and students.) Here's a quick overview of the book.*Parenting teens starts with the parent. We must work on ourselves before we begin to work with our teen.
*Our teens see our actions as much or more than they hear our words.
*Times really are harder now than when we were teens and we must work to understand what teens today go through.
*Our teens will experience the culture at some point in their life...better now than after they've moved away.
This book also dives a little deeper into 25 issues that teens deal with in adolescence. It is a great resource for any parent who is currently feeding a teenager in their household. Also a great read for those of us who will be parenting teens a few years done the road, as techniques and points made won't change with culture.
Zehr0 rating....4 out of 5 stars.
